THOUGHTS FOR CONSIDERATION: Greetings again my friends. Well, if you are reading this month’s newsletter you have survived January and all of the New Year stuff and moving on in the LORD in February. We will continue this month to look at the “Prophet of God” and the first of seven characterises of their perfect heart they must have to be able to serve God. Last month we established to be a Prophet of God, the one, must have a perfect heart. Now many Christians today think it is an impossibility, but I am not so sure that would be a true statement. Perfection in this world is tough and the more you come to know the LORD the tougher it gets, but in Matthew Jesus tells us something amazing. Jesus tell us in Mathew 5:48 to be “perfect.” Jesus says,
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) Now the word “perfect” here is translated, mature or selfless. As our Heavenly Father is mature or selfless. The point is if Jesus did not mean it then He would not have said it. After all Jesus does not say things just to say them. Oh no. What Jesus says He means. And if He says for us to be “perfect” then He knows we can be “perfect” in this age and not in the sweet by and by. So, the first of seven characteristics is a willing mind. In 1 Chronicles we talking about Solomon we read, “And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” (1 Chronicles 28:9) We talked about this verse last month Notice it was the first characteristic of the seven, now this should tell us something. My friend for us to do anything in God we first must settle it in our mind and if we settle it in our mind then we can do it. The battle field in God is the mind. If we can get things of God in our mind then they can get to our heart where we can see them and if we can see them then how easy is it to do what God wants us to do. Please reread the underlined words again. Now I am not talking about memorizing Bible verses or fact, oh no, I am talking about getting things of the Spirit in our mind and if we can get the things of the Spirit in our mind then we can them into our heart. The distance the Spirit must move is from our head to our heart. And if that can happen then nothing will be impossible for us to do for God. I could talk now about putting on the mind of Christ or other areas of the Scriptures here, but in Hebrews 11:13, we read, (I believe to be Paul), “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (Hebrews 11:13) Now Paul was talking about the mighty people of faith in the Old Testament, but it says they, “all died in faith, not having received the promises.” All of these mighty people of faith died in faith, but it says before they died they “seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” They saw the promises “afar off.” Well, where did they see the promises? That is right in their heart. It was in their mind they heard God speak to them, “faith cometh by hearing a word from God” (Romanis 10:17Greek KJV) and once they settled it in their mind, by believing God’s word was true and for them, it moved to their heart. Now here is the kicker, we must meditate or think on whatsoever God told us. In the Psalms David said these words, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) WOW, “the meditation of my heart?” Does this mean our heart meditates? No of course not, but what it means is we are to meditate on what is in our heart, we are to mediate on what God has told us, again and again, over and over and as we mediate on what has been birthed in our heart God is able to paint a picture of what He has told us. This is how the mighty people of faith back in Hebrews 11:13 saw the promises. But, notice they were “persuaded of them,” the promises, and “embraced them,” the promises, and “confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” We too, must be persuaded and embrace whatsoever God has promised us or it will never happen. Most Christians today are so wishy washy about the things of God. Are we truly serious about God or do we serve Him for what we can get out of Him? Sadly most Christians are not too committed or dedicated not to a Church or a doctrine, but to God Himself. The point I want to make is this, if we cannot see what God wants us to do it will never happen. We must be able to see God bring us from possible defeat to victory. We must be able to see God working in our lives, not ourself, but God doing things in our lives. Then we too will be able to see He who is invisible.
Next month we will continue looking at the perfect heart of the “Prophet of God” with a heart that seeks God. I hope this is you my friend. Are you a Prophet of God? To be a Prophet we must be able to hear His voice. Listen closely and you will. Written by David Stahl
